Ghandhara Tyre & Rubber Company Limited, formerly known as The General Tyre and Rubber Company of Pakistan Limited, was incorporated in 1963, at Landhi, Karachi and commenced production in 1964.
The Company is registered on Pakistan Stock Exchange and is a part of Bibojee Group, a business conglomerate encompassing diverse sectors such as textiles, insurance, automotive and construction, established by the late General Habibullah Khan Khattak in the 1960s. Continental AG, the number one tyre manufacturing company of Germany owns 10% stake in the Company and provides technical assistance in shape of human resource training, formulation recipes, selection of manufacturing equipment and acquiring of raw materials from approved suppliers.
The Company as a strategic move, has decided to modernize the outlook of the brand name from General Tyre to GTR Tyre as a parallel brand to capture the imagination of the young enthusiast motorists which will find the name classy, easy to use and a certain dynamism about it.
Ghandhara Tyre & Rubber Company Limited is the first and largest automotive tyre manufacturer in Pakistan producing steel belted tubeless radial tyres for passenger cars, SUVs and 4×4 vehicles. The current capacity of the Company stands at 2.4 million per annum for automotive tyres. While the motorcycle tyre plant capacity is 1.6 million tyres per annum. The company produces tyre sizes and patterns that cover almost 75% of the demand in Pakistan.
