Philips Pakistan Limited, formerly Philips Electrical Industries of Pakistan Limited, is a fully owned subsidiary of Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V, one of the largest multinational companies of the world founded in 1891, with its global headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Philips started its journey in Pakistan soon after independence in the year 1949 with the introduction of transistor radios and electric bulbs. In the early 1950s Philips started the manufacturing of transistor radios and electrical bulbs at Karachi. In 1968 the local assembly of black & white televisions began and in 1971 the manufacturing of tube-lights and lamps was started. In 1976 Philips started the production of colour televisions in Pakistan.
