In 1969 DHL started its inbound operations under the name DHL International. On 9th March 1982 after signing a joint venture agreement with the (Late) Brig® Sadiq Nawaz Khan Awan, DHL started operating under the name DHL Worldwide Express with six employees in Karachi. DHL continuously expanded its operations across Pakistan and in 2008 Deutsche Post DHL took 100% ownership.
DHL’s commitment to Pakistan has seen the business evolve and expand into a true market leader. By consistently investing in people, infrastructure and technology to streamline its operations and enhance service quality, DHL has remained at the forefront by providing quality logistics services. As a result, today the Company has one of the most extensive international express operations in the country. Serving across 22 cities across the country with over 50 Service Points, more than 120 vehicles and a workforce of over 500, DHL has helped businesses grow across borders.
In 2008, DHL inaugurated its Airside Facility at Jinnah Airport Karachi. Built at a cost of USD$ 5 million, it provides state-of-the-art logistics handling and in-house Customs Clearance to DHL Express Pakistan’s growing customer base and is the only facility of its kind in the country.
DHL’s impressive Airside Facility at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, with its in-house customs clearance, advanced x-ray screening and latest explosive detectors holds an envious position amongst logistics players. This facility also enjoys the distinction of setting DHL apart as the first and only air express company in Pakistan to acquire a Class ‘A’ TAPA - Transported Asset Protection Association certification, in addition to being ISO 9001:2008 certified.
DHL has also made considerable investments in a state-of-the-art Quality Control Centre - QCC in Karachi. The QCC serves as a nerve centre for all shipments coming in or going out of Pakistan by providing real-time tracking data, from shipment pick-up to final delivery.
