Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association is the premier trade association representing the knitwear and hosirry manufacturing and export industry of Pakistan. The Association was established in the year 1960 with it's head office based in Karachi. Subsequently a zonal office was opened in Lahore and two regional offices were also established in Faisalabad and Sialkot. The Association has the mandate to promote, develop, protect, stimulate and encourage the hosiery, knitwear and all made-ups, fabrics, home textile products of cotton, wool, silk or man-made fibers and to raise the standard of their production and to enhance exports.
The Association is duly registered with The Ministry of Commerce - Government of Pakistan and works closely with all the stakeholders in the formulation of trade policies and budgetry initiatives. The hosiery and knitwear industry consists of over 3,500 small, medium and large companies employing over 700,000 people. The combined investment in this sector is estimated to be above Rs. 10 billion. Hosiery and knitwear exports from Pakistan primary consist of socks, knitted bed sheets, processed fabric and knitted garments. It earns valuable foreign exchange for the country every year.
Technical Support Cell - TSC and PHMA Institute of Knitwear Technology - PHMA-IKT at Karachi are two of the major initiatives of Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association. TSC is providing state of the art resources for the Association's member concerns which include technical testing, energy efficiency and management, productivity improvement, environmental management and training of industrial professionals. PHMA-IKT is manadated with the training of quality human resource through various diplomas and certification programs.
