Specialization: Press Council of Pakistan is an independent, autonomous body established in the year 1954. The Council comprises of 18 members and a chairman. The Council is mandated to evolve, update and implements an ethical media code of practice under Section 8 of the PCP Ordinance. The Council also acts as a Complaint Commission to receive and adjudicate complaints against unethical journalism and to protect the free functioning of the media against any interference in the independent working of the press. The Council is also mandated to take notice and resolve incidents of violence against working journalists. Press Council of Pakistan head office is located in Islamabad.
