Specialization: Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission – SUPARCO is the National Space Agency of Pakistan established in 1961 with the mandate to advance research and development in Space Science and allied fields and to enhance indigenous capabilities in Space Technology. SUPARCO developed, launched and operates a communication satellite PAKSAT-1R and two remote sensing satellites PRSS-1 and PAKTES-1A. SUPARCO also promotes the peaceful applications of space science and technology for the socioeconomic development of the country in the fields of agriculture, forestry, water resource management, geology, mineral prospection, climate change and environment, urban planning, disaster monitoring and mitigation, cryosphere modeling, coastal and marine resource management and land cover mapping. SUPARCO also offers GIS technologies for spatial decision support systems, vehicle tracking and fleet management, location based services, surveying and navigation and emergency response information systems.
