Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association - PSGMEA was established in the year 1945. The main objective of the Association was to protect, promote and develop the sports goods and sports wear manufacturing industries in Pakistan. Sports goods manufacturing in Sialkot dates back to the year 1918 when the first football supplied by the British Army was restitched in Sialkot followed by its local production. Today all sorts of sports goods and sports wear including footballs, cricket bats and hockey sticks are manufactured in Sialkot and are exported worldwide to international markets. The industry employes over 400,000 people which are engaged directly or indirectly with the export manufacturing activities in Sialkot.

Today under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Arshad Latif Butt - Chairman, PSGMEA is playing a vital role in the development of sporting goods manufacturing in the country. The Association works closely with the Government to formulate policies and resolves issues of its stakeholders in order to enhance exports and earn valuable foreign exchange for the country. In this regards the Association, in collaboration with the Government, has established Pakistan Sports Goods Cooperative Export Corporation Limited with the specific mandate for export promotion and quality production of sporting goods.

Sports Goods Service Centre, Sialkot is another praiseworthy initiative of PSGMEA. The Centre is equipped with most modern infrastructure and wood-working macchinery for the fabrication and seasoning of quality wood to be used in the manufacturing of sporting goods. The Centre is also equipped with state of the art leather shaving, cutting and buffing machines and provides quality leather materials for sporting goods manufacturing. These initiatives have contributed immensely towards the quality production od sports goods which is a critical requirement for international export markets. Today the total export from the industrious city of Sialkot has surpassed US $ 900 Million.
